Love from NYC :: One at a time.

This morning walking back from the gym I noticed a lovely elderly man standing on the street corner with a stick, as he was hard of seeing. Instantly I my heart was moved with compassion. As the “walk” sign flashed, he stood there waiting. Waiting for help, waiting for a sound, I’m not sure. As I looked at people walking across the street and past him I felt shocked and saddened. I pulled my earplugs out, took my sunglasses off and walked over to him, asking him if he needed some help crossing the street. He replied that he did and he put his arm out for me to link arms with him. As we walked across the street, arm in arm, I asked his name. “My name’s Arnold” he said smiling. I introduced myself and he said “Natalie, it’s a pleasure knowing you.” What a beautiful thing to say. ๐Ÿ™‚ย

I’m tearing up a little bit writing this actually, wishing I had have prayed for him. But me feeling guilty about not doing enough is not God’s heart. It’s not about that. It’s about me just loving people with God’s love and stepping out when I see real opportunities to show them this love. And that’s what I did.ย

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful,
and endures through every circumstance. 1 Corinthians 13:7

Sometimes we make it overcomplicated just helping people don’t we? Sometimes we get overwhelmed with the need. I know I do! Let me tell you New York is an amazing city but it’s devastating seeing so many people in need.ย I’m constantly thinking, “oh my gosh how can I helpย everyone?!” I can’t help everyone, but I can help one.ย One at a time. One today, one tomorrow. Lord I pray you would release your love and your healing power over Arnold and over every person reading these words. ๐Ÿ™‚

So let’s take the pressure off and just love person one at a time. Jesus did that. He always went after the one, and he still does today. Let’s ignore guilt and let love lead the way.ย Cos love always wins. Always!

Love you guys, Nat xoย

Love from NYC :: Stay in your lane.

Well hello my lovelies sending you a hug from NYC! How is your week going? Well I’m about to put the kettle on and have a cuppa… wanna join me?! Imagine if we could do that! Oh my gosh it would be very fun ๐Ÿ™‚ So I have been in this fabulous city for about a week and a half now and boy is everyone right when they say it’s the city of dreams! Woh woh woh yes sirree! I seriously think if you took all the power from the speed people walk in this city and put it together we could power an entire country! Here are a just a few of them chilling in Bryant Park today…

And here’s the jazz pianist playing fabulous music.

Of course NYC a city full of inspiration, dreams, ambition, which is why I wanted to come here… everyone literally believes that anything is possible. But another thing I have felt whilst I am here is to really focus on “staying in my lane”, and not getting caught up with trying to run someone else’s race.

Inspiration comes from everywhere, but at times I find the line between inspiration and comparisonย is quite fine. Do you ever find that? I mean, we spend SO much of our lives online these days, there is so much information out there, butย when I have crossed that lineย I get a little check in my spirit. No matter where I am or what I am doing, the moment I begin to feel my joy being robbed I know something is up. If I suddenly feel insecure, intimidated, fearful or I start judging myself to see whether what I am doing is good enough… I have to stop right there and step away.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes it happens when I don’t even realise it! Then all of a sudden I feel totally terrible and I am knee deep in “oh my gosh this person is doing that, I need to do this and this and this?!” Um, NO. No you don’t. All you need to do is focus on being the amazing, creative, inspiring and fabulous person God created you to be.ย There is no one on earth like you. There is no one on earth like me. And if you try and be me and I try and be you, then we are both going to fail miserably! But, if we stay in our lane and focus on what we do best, then we are going to flourish and we are going to fly baby ๐Ÿ™‚

You are fearfully and wonderfully made.ย

You are amazing. Of all the people walking on this planet there is not a single one like you. Just look at us! I mean, as I write these words I am thinking of you guys reading this blog. Each of you are incredible, with your own amazing gifts and abilities, and today you are going to go out into this world and release your creativity and amazing-ness!! (Not sure if that is actually a word!) Anyway, the world needs what you have to give… so get out there and run!

So, what do you say? Wanna join me and stay in our own lanes and be amazing?ย

Love Nat xoxo

A constant in every season.

Good morning my lovely friends ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m sending love to you from New York City! Happy Tuesday for the Aussies and happy Monday to us here in the northern hemisphere… I am writing this post from the bedroom of my beautiful first floor apartment, red geraniums are smiling at me on the balcony as I look down to the tree-lined street below. Here’s me watering them the other morning…

So… I have travelled quite a distance since my last blog. After Vancouver I boarded The Canadian train for a three day journey across Canada to Toronto. Oh my gosh, what an amazing experience it was. Sailing through the Rockies, past gorgeous fields and prairies, and just having some time to reflect on a busy but wonderful past month travelling through Alaska and Canada. And now here I am in my beloved NYC! I arrived last Thursday afternoon and am still pinching myself that I am here. Hello NY Public Library ๐Ÿ™‚

And here’s my beautiful street…

I chuckled to myself as I powered up Park Avenue through the crowd the other day, two overflowing Wholefoods paper grocery bags in hand, overtaking people at lightening speed and feeling completely like a local! Hey, when in Rome…ย

Here’s the view from my apartment at night… very inspiring I think ๐Ÿ™‚

Washington Square Park on a balmy night…ย

Such a great atmosphere with street performers everywhere…

So I’m here and it’s wonderful, but as with any new season, mixed emotions often follow along. Over the past four days I have been overwhelmed with joy and excitement that I am finally back here in this city I love, but I have also found myself faced with fear and uncertainty. Being a very organised person, I like things to be in order and planned out, but when you’re in a new city, out of your comfort zone, with nothing familiar around you, this is sometimes not as easy to do as it may be back home. ๐Ÿ™‚ So I’ve had to shift things around a little bit and reassess. This morning (after a restless sleep due to a silly migraine) I spent the morning just reading my bible and sitting in God’s presence. Ah, it was honestly like water to my soul.ย

His presence is everything. What a gift hey. When the busyness and craziness of life is whirling around us, we can feel so out of control, but the wonderful thing is that no matter how far off course we might spin, he is always right there waiting for us. And his presence is a breath of fresh air. It’s a constant and sure thing in our lives and it never, ever changes.ย

Are you in a new season? Or feeling like you are in transition? Or maybe you have just been in this season for such a long time you are not sure what to do next? Well, whatever you are facing, let’s both be encouraged… as we navigate new territory, journeying this day set before us, let’s be aware that we are pioneering a brave and new path. My friends, we are doing a great job and all of heaven is cheering us on. We are not alone in this… So today, know that you are loved by me and that I am cheering you on in whatever season you are in! < Insert big group hug here! > Here’s me sending you love from my little home in New York ๐Ÿ™‚ xxxxx

My heart for this blog is to build a community of friends near and far, who can encourage each other and cheer one another on as we dare to chase the things in our hearts. So if you have some encouragement to share, feel free to send it our way. What greatness is ahead of us! I love you all and am sending you a big hug today from NYC ๐Ÿ™‚

Have an amazing day my friend.

Nat xoxo

Fear is still (and will always, always be) a liar.

Fear is so silly don’t you think? Well I mean, when we’re affected by it’s sneaky discouragement, illusive intimidation and overwhelming anxiety, okay let’s be honest it feels more ‘in-your-face-dangerous‘ than ‘silly’; but thatย momentย we realise just how pathetic and obviously … Continue reading

Six little encouragements for you.

Okayyyyy call me crazzzy, but the fact that we are only four months away from summer is just a tad exciting for me! << insert crazy tongue poking out emoticon here >> Alrightย alright, I know I am jumping the gun a bit here, but think about it… June 21 was four days ago… That’s theย shortestย day of the year… So guess what that means? Yep that’s right. The days get longer and warmer from here on in. Hello. Woo hoo!ย

And just like summer is coming, so are our promises. Yep. Your promises and mine. God promises that “we are the receivers of great and precious promises“, so just as we get excited andย knowย summer is coming, we can rest assured that our great God has everything perfectly planned. He’s working behind the scenes in our situation right now. Just look at the sun in the sky. Every time it sets it’s a confirmation of his goodness.ย

So here are six little things to encourage you in whatever season you are in:

1. Write five things you are thankful for today.

Thankfulness shifts atmospheres and gives us new eyes to see.

2. Joyfully look forward to the season ahead.

Expectation releases the miraculous.

3. Don’t be distracted or discouraged in the wait.ย

Focus is the key. And God is always really great at helping us with this.

4. Sow seeds for the next season.ย

Whether it’s finance, time, acts of service, or love… your seed releases your breakthrough.

5. Expect surprises everyday.

Let’s learn from kids. They areย alwaysย expecting fun and wonder.ย

6. Don’t wait for summer to come to dance… dance in the rain!!

That’s right! It’s time to seize the moment. Carpe diem!

So have a beautiful day my friends. Be encouraged, wherever you go you have the ability to release love and joy, so let’s be extravagant with our giving.

Happy Wednesday ๐Ÿ™‚

Love Nat xox

It’s never too late.

ImageIt’s never too late you know. That thing you’ve always wanted to do, no matterย howย you might have procrastinated over the years, and made up excuses as toย whyย youย can’t actually do it (even though, hello, it’sย clearlyย burningย in your heart, which means you’re probably more equipped and evenย moreย capable of doing it than anyone else around you!) Anyway, I’m here today to tell you something. Friend, it’sย neverย too late. I had a conversation with someone very dear to me yesterday, we were talking about a particular vocation and their eyes lit up as they excitedly told me over and over “I wouldย loveย to do that…” So I told them, it’s not too late to start now!ย  Continue reading

Friday Fashionista :: { All Wrapped Up }

Bonjour et heureux vendredi mes amis! Just practicing myย franรงais he he :):) Happy Friday my friends! So after this week’s freeeeeezingย weatherย (yes I know I know it’s hardly freezingย compared to a lot of the world but hey, it’s still pretty fresh!)… today’s request is one thing we simply CANNOT live without at the moment! Serving multiple purposes; firstly it’s a means of staying warm in cool weather, and secondly, (in my opinion), it’s the “quintessentialย fall and winterย fashion accessory”. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m talking about The Scarf. So if you need some more “rug-up-and-look-fab” inspiration… here we go! Xx

I hope this scarf display has inspired your wardrobe ๐Ÿ™‚
And to finish off here’s Lenny sporting the largest scarf I’ve ever seen…
Happy Anzac Day my friends… I am marching with my Papa and remembering my Grandpa today. What a wonderful day this is. I love honouring these great men and women who fought so heroically for us. So if you see any of these faithful champions around town today why don’t you stop and tell them just how amazing they are. ๐Ÿ™‚

See you next week lovelies…ย
